Having just finished the final book in the series, The Secret of the Journal, I can honestly say it is going to be difficult to find something else to read that grips the imagination as do these five books. They are well paced and the plot unpredictable, the sequence of events creating suspense that is, at times, intense. The description of both characters and surroundings allow the reader to visualise the scenes and become totally immersed, as if there, observing them. The emotional responses of the characters to each other, the relationships between them and their back stories result in three dimensional characters and gives motives for their actions.

CF Dunn's love of history shines through the series and is at the heart of an implausible story in which the author's writing skills persuade the reader to suspend belief. Full of intrigue, suspense and romance - brilliant! Anon
